Our client is a growing, mid-sized organization operating in an asset-intensive, project-based industry. The company is currently undergoing a period of transformation and growth, driven by recent investment and a focus on strengthening internal processes and financial operations.

With a collaborative and close-knit office environment, this organization offers the opportunity to work directly with experienced leadership while gaining exposure to a wide range of accounting responsibilities across multiple entities.

This role is ideal for a CPA-designated professional seeking a hands-on position with long-term growth potential. With a clear succession plan in place, the successful candidate will be mentored and gradually take on increased responsibility, positioning them for future leadership within the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Corporate Accountant, you will play a critical role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations while contributing to the long-term financial leadership of the organization.

Financial Reporting & Month-End

  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, supporting timely and reliable financial reporting.

Operational Accounting & Analysis

  • Perform bank reconciliations and oversee accounts payable and receivable processes across multiple entities.
  • Support job and project costing, providing insights into operational performance and cost control.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Work within Sage 300 and leverage Excel to analyze data, build reports, and improve financial processes.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance reporting accuracy in a dynamic, evolving environment.

Collaboration & Business Partnership

  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders, including operations, payroll, and office teams across multiple locations.
  • Communicate financial insights clearly to support decision-making and operational efficiency.

Succession & Leadership Development

  • Work directly with senior finance leadership to gain exposure to higher-level responsibilities over time.
  • Contribute to building scalable processes and supporting the integration of multiple business entities.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate:

Education & Experience:

  • CPA designation (required).
  • 3–7 years of industry progressive accounting experience , ideally within asset-heavy or project-based industries such as construction, or industrial.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and data analysis; experience with Sage 300 is an asset.

Key Competencies:

  • Adaptable and hands-on, with the ability to manage a varied workload and shifting priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and within a small, collaborative team.
  • Practical, solutions-oriented mindset with a willingness to take ownership and grow into a leadership role.
  • Comfortable working in an in-office environment and traveling occasionally to operational sites.
