Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information while providing valuable insights that support strategic business decisions.
Fixed Assets & Capital Accounting
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register, ensuring additions, disposals, and transfers are accurately recorded.
- Prepare and record monthly depreciation entries.
- Support capital asset tracking and ensure proper documentation.
Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Manage inventory accounting activities, including valuation, reconciliation, and cost of goods sold calculations.
- Prepare manufacturing-related accounting entries and ensure inventory balances accurately reflect operational activity.
- Collaborate with operational teams to improve inventory controls and reporting accuracy.
Project & Capital Expenditure Management
- Partner with Supply Chain and Operations teams to monitor capital expenditures and project costs.
- Reconcile project spending and ensure timely capitalization of assets under construction.
- Support the financial oversight of ongoing capital projects by maintaining accurate records and reporting.
Intercompany Accounting & Reconciliations
- Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions, balances, and recharge allocations.
- Ensure supporting documentation is complete and accurate for consolidated financial reporting.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities related to intercompany accounts.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Analyze financial results and provide meaningful commentary on trends, variances, and performance metrics.
- Support leadership with financial insights that assist in operational and strategic decision-making.
Audit, Compliance & Internal Controls
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain supporting working papers.
- Coordinate audit schedules and provide documentation required for annual and internal audits.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal control requirements.
Process Improvement & Team Collaboration
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and financial controls.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance data accuracy and operational effectiveness.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting team members while promoting best practices across the finance function.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate:
Education & Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
- CPA designation completed or in progress is required.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting and month-end close responsibilities.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience working with SAP or a comparable ERP system.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial analysis and reporting.
- Knowledge of inventory accounting, fixed assets, and capital project accounting.
