Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

EHN Willowview Recovery Centre, a government-funded addiction and mental health treatment facility, is seeking a full-time Executive Director to lead its operations and drive strategic growth. This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of program development, team leadership, resource planning, regulatory compliance, and financial management in alignment with the organization’s mission and values. The Executive Director will work closely with the VP of Operations to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care and a culture that supports recovery and professional excellence.

With a mandate to guide long-term strategy while managing the day-to-day operations of a 60-bed inpatient facility, the Executive Director will lead a skilled team of clinical and administrative professionals. This is an ideal opportunity for a seasoned healthcare leader with a passion for addiction recovery and mental health services to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families.

 

THE ORGANIZATION

EHN Willowview Recovery Centre is part of EHN Canada, a nationally accredited mental health and addiction treatment network. Located in British Columbia, Willowview offers an 8-week residential program with an option to extend to 16 weeks of care. Treatment at Willowview includes medical detox, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), relapse prevention, and a range of adjunctive therapies such as meditation, breathwork, and other holistic approaches.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic and operational plans in collaboration with the VP of Operations.
  • Define and maintain a long-term vision that aligns with organizational goals and supports patient-centered outcomes.
  • Champion the organization’s mission and values through leadership and external representation.

 

Operational Management

  • Oversee the efficient day-to-day functioning of all clinical and administrative departments.
  • Direct and support key leadership roles, including the Clinical Director, Operations Director, Nursing Supervisor, and Admissions team.
  • Ensure a compliant, safe, and performance-driven workplace aligned with health regulations and internal standards.

 

Program Development & Compliance

  • Continuously refine programs to reflect emerging best practices in addiction and mental health care.
  • Ensure full compliance with provincial/federal legislation, accreditation standards, and professional ethics.
  • Lead the creation and periodic review of internal policies and procedures.

 

Financial Oversight

  • Collaborate with finance to develop and manage the annual budget.
  • Oversee financial performance, including cash flow and expenditure approvals.
  • Guide long-term fiscal planning and resource optimization.

 

Human Resources & Team Development

  • Assess staffing needs and lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention initiatives.
  • Build a high-performance culture through performance management and professional development planning.
  • Address performance issues and conduct disciplinary actions as needed, in alignment with policy and employment law.

 

Quality & Risk Management

  • Track organizational performance metrics and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Identify operational risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, patient safety, and service excellence.

 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between EHN Willowview and the EHN Canada leadership and board.
  • Represent the organization in the broader community, including at events and conferences.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of senior leadership experience in healthcare, with a strong background in addiction and mental health services.
  • Proven ability to lead organizations strategically and operationally.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance, and accreditation.
  • Skilled in team leadership, financial management, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong communicator with sound decision-making and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Demonstrates ethical leadership, professionalism, and discretion.
