Job Description

Overview

Our client is a Canadian based Insurance company and they are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented, full cycle, experienced Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our team reporting to our Director of Operations and Finance. As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and performing various accounting tasks including month end close.  Day to day activities would include:

 

Job Duties

  1. Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
  2. Process cash receipts and disbursements in a timely manner
  3. Track and record accounts payables and accruals
  4. Maintain and calculate fixed assets and depreciation
  5. Maintain and calculate prepaid expenses
  6. Post semi-monthly payroll journal entries
  7. Reconcile various accounts as needed such as commissions earned and direct billings
  8. Calculate and post foreign exchange adjustments
  9. Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements and reports
  10. Post general journal entries
  11. Other accounting and finance related projects

 

Experience

  1. Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  2. 3 years of work experience in bookkeeping or proven experience in a similar role
  3. Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices
  4. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
  5. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  6. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  7. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  8. Insurance industry experience is an asset
