The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Datacom Outside Sales Representative for industrial clients in Alberta. Our client specializes in electrical distribution and supply chain solutions. They are looking for someone with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and a proven track record of success in sales.

This role can be based in Calgary or Edmonton.


Key Responsibilities and Functions

  • Develop and execute assigned customer account plans in collaboration with management.
  • Identify potential customers through proactive prospecting activities, including cold calling and leveraging referral channels.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and presentations based on customer requirements.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with customers to ensure satisfaction, address any post-sale issues, and build strong long-term relationships.
  • Utilize sales management tools for effective sales planning, supplier coordination, and documentation of opportunities.
  • Establish and foster strong relationships with suppliers, including conducting joint sales calls to maximize collaboration and business opportunities.
  • Provide accurate and timely quotations to customers, either independently or in collaboration with the sales support team.
  • Maintain prescribed profitability margins.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree or electrician trade certificate is preferred.
  • Prior sales experience is required, with a preference for outside sales experience.
  • Minimum five years of industry experience.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to meet current and potential clients as well as suppliers up to 70% of the time.
  • Flexibility to work a flexible schedule and regular overnight travel as needed.
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills with a proven track record of achieving targets.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
