CONTAMINATED SITES SPECIALIST

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

 

Executrade is working with a consulting firm to fill the position of Contaminated Sites Specialist in Fort St John, BC.

KEY ACCOUNT RESPONSIBILTIES & FUNCTIONS

  • Offering leadership, expert guidance and advice, and project oversight for a wide range of contaminated site projects spanning diverse natural resource sectors.
  • Supervising and directing environmental drilling operations, remedial excavation, test pitting, and associated soil sampling endeavors.
  • Manage the installation process of groundwater monitoring wells to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct groundwater monitoring and sampling
  • Perform soil vapour sampling.
  • Overseeing the characterization of stockpiles to inform decision-making processes.
  • Compiling comprehensive reports summarizing field activities, including Stage 1&2 PSIs/Phase 1&2 ESAs, DSIs, Remediation.
  • Provide valuable Supervision, training, and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Taking the lead in preparing quotations, proposals, and other essential project documentation.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current or eligibility for a relevant professional designation (e.g., PGeo, PEng, PAg, etc.), or eligibility within 1 year.
  • Currently enrolled or working towards eligibility for CSAP.  
  • 5+ years of experience, including at least three years of field experience in supervising environmental drilling, groundwater sampling, and soil vapour sampling.
  • Experience with a risk-based approach is an asset.
  • Thorough knowledge of environmental legislation and regulations.
  • Knowledge of federal environmental legislation (e.g., CCME CEQGs).
  • Effective relationship, communication, and networking skills to cultivate relationships with clients, regulators, First Nations, community members, and team members.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities to coordinate and support team members and manage client portfolios.
